Why Java Edition matters
Java mods are installed through loader-specific profiles rather than the Bedrock add-on system. That means a Java mod JAR or archive is not interchangeable with an MCPE package.
Loader choice is part of the release
Do not choose Forge, NeoForge or Fabric based only on preference. Use the loader named by the specific build. Newer community listings around the project use NeoForge, while many 1.20.1 searches are tied to Forge.
Expect an unusual horror design
The Broken Script is known for slow pacing, anomalies and deliberately disruptive effects. A quiet first session does not necessarily mean the installation failed.
Recommended first-session setup
Use a clean profile, a fresh world, no shader pack and only required dependencies. This gives you a stable baseline before adding other content.
